Welcome to the the School of Anaesthesia prospectus information page
The KSS Core School of Anaesthesia provides the first two years of training in anaesthesia at hospitals within Kent, Surrey and Sussex.
The South East of England is a delightful part of the UK to live and although the area is large geographically, trainees are given the choice between the East (Kent), West (Surrey) and South (Sussex) areas of the school.
Within each area there are a number of two year rotations, all of which are designed to maximize the training opportunities within the Deanery allowing trainees to focus on their training without having to move house or travel long distances.
"The KSS Deanery places great emphasis on the quality control of education..."
The KSS Deanery places great emphasis on the quality control of education and has a rigorous system which reports back through the School of Anaesthesia to the Deanery. A number of outstanding courses are provided and trainees are given all the support they need.
Within each area the trainees are able to get to know one another and the whole school comes together on school training days. Simulation training is also available. We support our trainees taking exams and the school has a number of examiners amongst its trainers.
At the end of the two core years we expect that trainees should be in a position to apply for ST3-7 posts. We pride ourselves on personal interest we take in all our trainees and we expect the majority to stay within the South East or nearby to further their training opportunities.
We are a relatively new school but our ST3-7 trainees in the South Coast School have been very successful in obtaining consultant positions.
