Welcome to Acute Care Common Stem at KSS Deanery
.
Acute Care Common Stem is a new two-year programme enabling Foundation trainees to embark on a career in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive care medicine and Acute Medicine.
It is the only route for entry into Emergency Medicine training for trainees exiting the Foundation programme.
Trainees embarking on a career in Emergency Medicine need to do a third year CT3, before entering Higher specialty training at ST4 level. For Anaesthetic trainees they repeat the CT2 year before entering Higher specialty training at ST3 level.
For Acute Medicine KSS deanery may allow trainees an experiential year depending on their individual training needs. In addition trainees need to be aware of the College exam requirements for entry to higher specialty training.
Currently KSS deanery has 22 CT1 trainees in ACCS programme with themed exits as follows EM-9, anaesthesia -8 and Acute Medicine -5.
